Selection guide

Start with the task—not the length.

Selection depends on the tool being held, working clearance, strike direction, operator position and approved method.

Four decisions

How to select the right tool

A short holder is not always the safest in confined work, and a long holder is not automatically better for every application.

01

What is being held?

Identify the spanner, punch, chisel or other tool. Verify its shape and whether a compatible gripping interface exists.

02

Where is the line of fire?

Consider the hammer arc, strike point, slipping surfaces, rebound, ejected fragments and surrounding structures.

03

How many people are required?

For long or heavy operations, evaluate a two-person holder-and-striker procedure with clear communication.

04

Which holder is approved?

Compare the compact, standard and long FingerSaver range; consider a dedicated chisel and punch holder for those tools.

Do not confuse the tools

FingerSaver versus chisel/punch holder

PSC also offers a purpose-built chisel and punch holder. It should be considered separately where positive holding of a chisel or punch is required.
